IT Security Engineer

Our client has been in business for over 50 years and they have established themselves as a leader in their industry.  Based in Ypsilanti, MI, the company started in 1960 with one location and now does business in 82 countries worldwide.  Accompanying that growth has been their rise as a true technology leader, a brand that is consistently one of the top five companies in online transactions.  As a result of their continued growth and success, they have an opening on their InfoSec team for an IT Security Engineer.  In this role you will work with cross-functional teams to design, implement and support solutions for the company’s Domestic and International business units, partners and customers. 

The following are high level requirements for this role:

  • Deep knowledge of TCP/IP and related data network protocols;  knowledge of standard network protocols like TCP, ARP, ICMP, DHCP, HTTP, SNMP etc., and advanced features like IPSEC and IPv6 related protocols and accompanying protocol analysis tools (Windshark, TCPDump, etc)
  • Must have strong experience in at least two (2) of the following security technologies:  Palo Alto, Checkpoint, F5, Cisco, Juniper, Bluecoat, Fortinet, Imperva, Gigamon, Cyberark, Sailpoint
  • 8-10 years of combined IT and security work experience, with 5+ years of experience in information security, especially in a security engineering role

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in regular meetings and conference calls with customers and IT staff to help qualify opportunities and technical solutions
  • Develop and document models, plans, diagrams, illustrations and procedures in support of engineering activities and security related business initiatives
  • Advises business managers and customers of security requirements, configurations and limitations
  • Research, evaluate and direct the acquisition, installation and testing of security software and/or hardware for network security devices, application security and identity and access management
  • Assist with ongoing projects related to identity and access management
  • Work with Security leadership, other IS teams and/or other business units to design, engineer, recommend and plan technical projects to meet segmentation and visibility needs
  • Analyzes business needs; gathers requirements, designs, installs, troubleshoots and supports technical solutions in a world-class infrastructure
  • Meet regularly with network engineers to ensure infrastructure reviews are being performed on a regular cadence
  • Ensure new technologies are reviewed and implemented, standards and security requirements are met and interoperability needs are addressed
  • Work closely with Information Security Compliance to ensure the company is SOX & PCI compliant

Experience:

  • Technical expertise in network security knowledge to include VPN, Firewall, network monitoring, intrusion detection/prevention, web server security and wireless security
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) OR Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE Security) (highly desired)
  • Experience with Identity & Access Management solutions
  • Experience with Privileged Access Management technologies
  • Practical understanding with web application firewalls, network access controls, database security, content filtering and vulnerability management
  • An understanding of DDoS Mitigation strategies, Data Loss Prevention and Security Information Event Management (SIEM)
  • Strong knowledge of common vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques
  • Strong decision making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one
