Engineering Project Manager

Our client is a long standing, Michigan based manufacturer with an industry leading product line sold worldwide.  The company manufactures their own production equipment and raw materials used in the manufacturing process. They are growing rapidly and they are looking for a Project Manager to join their team. The Project Manager manages engineering projects or programs of moderate size, complexity and duration focused on product and process development and improvement.

The following are high level requirements for this role:

  • Knowledge of and experience using project management methodologies and software
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and communicate with project partners

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects or programs of moderate size, complexity and duration and coordinate members of the project team including engineers, designers and technicians
  • Develop project plan, schedules and work plans, estimate resources and costs, and track and report documents
  • Define the project scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Document and track project plan
  • Develop and maintain relationships with team members and project stakeholders
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Maintain continuous alignment of project scope with defined strategic business objectives
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders
  • Monitor progress of projects, identify problems impeding progress, and participate in their resolution
  • Communicate risks, changes and other information relating to the project
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Provide reports, updates and feedback to management and project team
  • Identify successful and unsuccessful project elements after project completion and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Mentor other engineering project managers

Experience:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor\\\\\\\'s degree with an emphasis in engineering, business, or a technical related field of study and three (3) years of related experience, OR
    • Associate’s degree and six (6) years of related experience, OR
    • High school diploma and twelve (12) years of related experience
  • Knowledge of and experience using project management methodologies and software
  • Ability to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks, projects, and priorities
  • Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and communicate with project partners
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Ability to understand and apply financial analysis
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Project management training or training in project management related fields to include risk, quality, and scheduling, preferred
