Our client is a leading financial services company based in the Lansing area.  Our client is seeking an IT Program Manager for a 6 month contract to hire.  The IT Program Manager is responsible for working closely with business and technical leadership to ensure alignment to corporate strategy in the development of programs and associated projects both within and spanning project portfolios.  Using an enterprise view, the IT Program Manager will plan, schedule, coordinate, organize and lead large, complex technical programs and the associated projects in areas such as infrastructure, telecommunications, software implementations, and application development; with regular oversight from the Project Management Team Manager.  The IT Program Manager will utilize technical knowledge and experience in order to effectively influence the execution of programs and associated projects. They will work closely with business units; portfolio owners; technical leadership; project managers; and project teams, as required, to plan, direct, and coordinate programs and associated projects with special emphasis on cross-project considerations.  The IT Program Manager will be responsible for the entire program lifecycle from contract/proposal initiation, through production implementation and post program warranty.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that proposed technical programs and associated projects align with corporate strategy.
  • Effectively performs complex impact and budget analysis of technical programs and associated projects.
  • Efficiently collaborates and coordinates with program sponsors to prepare comprehensive business cases and executive presentations.
  • Ensures that the project management system is up to date and accurately portrays the status of programs and associated projects.
  • Gathers, provides funding and resource recommendations to stakeholders and functional managers.
  • Creates program project plans in collaboration with business units; portfolio owners; technical leadership; project managers; and project teams with special emphasis on cross project considerations.
  • Creates and maintains schedules, coordination, organization and leads large, complex technical programs and the associated projects.
  • Effectively engaged in the System Development Lifecycle, applies SDLC mechanisms, and enforces established program/project standards.
  • Actively seeks and participates in personal and team development opportunities to meet departmental goals.
  • Performs other special projects or duties as assigned.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage large-scale programs and associated projects.
  • Must be able to coordinate the activities of project managers associated with programs; as assigned.
  • Strong knowledge of an enterprise project tracking system for tracking/development/reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Strong ability to navigate in a technological environment.
  • Strong understanding of corporate products and business units.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively and serve as a liaison between cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks, projects and programs to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail, exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to identify and understand complex problems/ issues and develop appropriate action plans from multi-disciplinary perspectives.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and/or education.
  • 5+ years program management experience required.
  • Experience working with an enterprise project management system; Workfront is preferred.
  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Budgeting experience preferred.
  • Experience with technical development and delivery of technical solutions preferred.
